After snatching pole on Saturday’s “Sackville Sprint” spirits were high for a good showing on Sunday’s main event, the Hawkesbury 120. “It was the best run we’ve ever had on the way down (Windsor to Wiseman’s first leg), glass conditions all the way” said Greg after Stopping the clock at Wisemans Ferry in smoking time of 20:54.

“The turbo’s sounded a bit suspect on the way down, so Mal [Malcolm Priest, Official TSR mechanic] and I decided that we would change the turbo’s, just in case” said Greg. Not having a set of turbo’s on hand and given the short turnaround until having to line up for the return leg, Greg took to the spanners and Mal took to the road, back to his workshop to bring a replacement set of turbo’s.

The turbo’s were replaced, and team pointed to the finish at Windsor, unfortunately the glassy conditions, that were enjoyed earlier, had now turned slightly windy, taking the heat off the record chase. The only advantage was that the entire field had to deal with the same conditions. A faultless performance from the Grant & Daniel out the back, let Greg drive the race he needed to take this years title.
