Team Stinga Racing Profile
Name: Kevin Boylan
D.O.B:
Crew Position: Observer
During his 35 years in water ski racing, Kevin has developed into something of a legend. He’s heralded as a committed team member, a world class observer and is an extremely sought after component for crews around the world. But the thing he’s best known for is winning.
It would be difficult to find another person in the world with more water ski racing experience than Kevin Boylan. He is an oracle of water skiing knowledge, and is one of TSR’s most important members. When Kevin is not observing for TSR he is driving his own boat for his own children, which is one of his biggest joys.
Common knowledge in water ski racing is that the best observers used to be skiers themselves, and Kevin was part of establishing Australia’s fearsome reputation as a skier in the 1980’s. Kevin has the ability to very quickly build trust with his skiers, and to accurately communicate all necessary information to the driver. Kevin takes ski racing from dangerous to safe.
One of the most important components of water ski racing is strategy, and there is no better at “playing the racing game” than Kevin Boylan. TSR are extremely happy to have Kevin as fulltime observer and not with a competitor’s crew.
Kevin is as renowned for his race course exploits as he is his quick witted humour before a race. Always quick with a country and western song to sooth the nerves, he has a natural ability to ease the tension of what can be a very stressful sport.
A tribute to his sport, Kevin is undoubtedly the most successful observer of all time.
