TEAM

HISTORY

Past team skiers have included the likes of Ann Procter, Grant Patterson, Daniel Campbell, Jason Walmsley, Chris Gelle, Jamie Graziano, Mitch Galvin, Danny Cropper, Stephen Robertson, Paul Robertson, Shane Helson, Jamie Oliver, Dean Hanckel, Daniel Cotton & Ian Dipple to only name a handful (Apologies to those not listed as there is many more great water skiers on the list).
The very first 2UP team was Andrew Taylor & Richie Stout, with Tom Moore observing in the early 1980’s. Over the years there has been dozens upon dozens of skiers (& plenty of observers too) who have competed with TSR at varying events. Every person who has competed with “Stinga” & every moment that has transpired as a result has its place in the history of the team. This history is something Team Stinga Racing is very proud of.
Team Stinga Racing comprises of 4 race boats - affectionately known as the “Legend”, the “little boat”(F21s), the “F1” & the “F2” which between them have won just about everything there is to win in water ski racing.
On the international stage, TSR have won 5 world titles (competing in the USA, NZ, Belgium & Australia), made 7 appearances (multiple class wins) at the world renowned Catalina Island Water Ski Race in Long Beach, California and competed at the Geel International waterski race in Belgium with a 1st place finish.
Locally, the list of achievements is extensive. Over 60 Australian titles, countless NSW titles, 7 x NSW boat of the year & 17 Water Ski Racing Australia classic wins positions TSR as one of the most successful teams to ever compete in the sport.
The “Stinga” legacy is far from complete though. With the current skier line up young enough to compete for some time to come & plenty of goals still to be achieved, there are more chapters to add to this story over the coming years.
If you or someone you know has skied with TSR & can provide dates, events, results etc, we would love to hear from you via our contact form or facebook page to assist in compiling a history of “Stinga” team members over the years

“Stinga” and the team surrounding it are synonymous with Waterski Racing worldwide and have been competing for over 30 years.
Team owner & driver Greg Houston has applied a level to professionalism to the team that is to be admired. From the long term relationship with Priest Family Marine who prepare the race boat, to the relationships with the sponsors & suppliers that keep TSR on the water through to the skills & work ethic of the team on race day. Every possible preparation is made & nothing is left to chance.
With one of the best observers in the game, Kevin Boylan, keeping a watchful eye over our skiers, it is no wonder the likes of Ben Hackett & Jack Houston have proceeded through the ranks with monumental success in recent times.
